According to a recent report by the US arm of Ernst & Young Global, the hotel industry around the world is continuing to stay profitable despite the recession.

Trends to keep an eye on this year are also featured within the report, including the expectation that hotels will become part of mixed-use developments and increasing numbers of hotels will be eco-friendly.

Have you invested in the hotel industry? What has been your experience so far?

Do you think the hotel sector is the one to watch in 2009?

Are you an estate agent marketing hotel investment opportunities? If so, have you found increasing investor interest in the hotel industry this year?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hi. I am currently marketing an Aparthotel and commercial units in Levi, Lapland, Finland. The unique location of this property makes it interesting as many people haven't really considered investing in property in Lapland, usually they just think of Santa!!! You are right in saying that the returns on hotels are good, providing you buy in the right location you are sure of a good investment. You need to choose an area where the tourism figures are good and consitent year in year out.
We are expecting to get good interest in this development as it does indeed provide a good investment and can add an interesting addition to a property portfolio, a unique location and a unique property!

Hi,

Thank you for your insight into aparthotels. You say you're marketing an aparthotel and commercial units in Lapland, Finland? What made you decide upon this particular location out of all the possible destinations around the world? Has it proven popular with investors so far this year? Is this a location which is offers year-round rental returns or is it more seasonal? I look forward to reading your reply, thank you.

I heard hotels are not doing so well, hence they are selling off the rooms, some of the hotel chains just dont want to own hotels anymore hence they are selling them. They want to make money on the management. Do hotel rooms actually appreciate in price. do banks give mortgages on them. If they do great, if they dont, why not! because they dont want to own them if the owner dont pay.
